All-America Rose Selections (AARS) Winner 1997
A must-have for Southern and Southwestern gardens, Artistry is a heat-tolerant hybrid tea. It sets 4- to 5-inch blossoms of a bright coral-orange with brushstrokes of cream on the reverse of each of the 30 to 35 petals. They unfurl from attractive pointed, ovoid buds, and once open, hold their shape and color beautifully. This midsummer bloomer is a fine performer in any climate, but when the days turn warmer, both its color and its form improve. Artistry hybrid tea rose will keep your garden gorgeous and all your vases full.
Another great thing about this particular hybrid tea is that, although some hybrid teas can look leggy and somewhat bare, Artistry boasts a dense habit of semi-glossy, dark green, very disease-resistant foliage. Reaching a mature size of 4 to 5 feet tall and 3 to 4 feet wide, it maintains a neat, tidy look rather than getting rangy. If you’re planting several at once, space them about 3 feet apart, which will create nice, thick coverage.
Artistry hybrid tea rose is only mildly fragrant, so it makes a good companion to those with a richer perfume. But because it has such a tall, full habit, it makes a nice backdrop to smaller English roses and other shorter plants. Plant this lovely rose in a sunny, well-drained spot, and make sure you have plenty of vases in which to display the stunning blooms once they start arriving.
