The original Red Simplicity, bred by Jackson and Perkins’ renowned hybridizer William Warriner (‘JACsimpl’) in 1985, was celebrated for its rich color, high bud count, and superior resistance to mildew and rust.
Double Red Simplicity Hedge Rose combines all the superior attributes of the original with a more elegant fully double bloom form. Arising in clusters throughout the season, bright crimson blooms form plush cup shapes over the green, glossy foliage and emit a mild, yet pleasant fragrance.
One of the most care-free roses ever grown, Double Red Simplicity Hedge Rose is a gorgeous (and easy) choice for surrounding a porch or patio, lining the border, creating accent plantings, or just about anywhere else you choose. Double Red Simplicity Hedge Rose is particularly well-suited to the more humid, rainy climates where other roses struggle, and can survive winter temperatures as low as -10 degrees; however, for the best bloom, you should use some freeze protection to defend new buds from spring frosts. Plant Double Red Simplicity Hedge Rose in moist but well-drained soil in a spot that receives plenty of sun, and Double Red Simplicity Hedge Rose will handle the rest. Growing a gorgeous red rose doesn’t get any simpler than that.
