Clusters of whimsical, dainty blooms in pink and plum.
Bergenia Dragonfly ‘Sakura’ blooms during the spring and has beautiful bell-shaped blossoms with semi-double to double petals in cerise pink. These flowers sit in dense clusters atop the plant’s foliage on tall stems. The Dragonfly has long, narrow dark green leaves that, in the winter, turn a rich plum. When these leaves are rubbed together, they often squeak, thus the plant’s moniker, ‘pig squeak.’
Bergenia Dragonfly ‘Sakura’ is a mounding plant that stays low to the ground, growing only 10 inches in height and 12 inches in width. It is incredibly hardy, easy to care for, and a reliable medium-rate grower. It thrives in full sunlight or partial shade and in dry to moist, well-drained soil; however, it is adaptable to a wide range of soil conditions. Bergenia Dragonfly ‘Sakura’ is deer and rabbit resistant, drought tolerant and attracts hummingbirds. It makes a lovely border, groundcover or edging. With its clusters of blooms, it is also makes a delightful container plant or cut flower.
