This vigorous vine can quickly become a gorgeous force in your garden. But only if you let it. Amethyst Falls Wisteria is a strong grower, yet easily manageable,.
Amethyst Falls Wisteria blooms its first season with fragrant, vividly blue flowers on 4- to 6-inch racemes that arrive in spring and repeat all summer. Blooming about two weeks later than other plants, Amethyst Falls Wisteria is seldom affected by late winter frosts.
Unpalatable to deer and tolerant of drought, this vine earned it a Georgia Gold Medal. Amethyst Falls Wisteria is great for arbors, garden buildings, strong trellises, and other supports. Or you can train it as a free-standing tree by staking it young and growing it upright with heavy pruning at the base. Versatile!
Prune in late winter to shape and remove any undesirable growth. Another light trim after the first flush of flowers will improve branching and an encore bloom.
