A climbing rose, Big Ben was discovered by Colleen O’Connell in New Zealand and is only available in the U.S. at Jackson & Perkins. Big Ben establishes quickly and grows vigorously, its strong, arching canes reaching 8 to 10 feet tall. It flowers in trusses of 3 to 7 tight buds that open to 3- to 4-inch double blooms with 17 to 25 petals in a mix of white, cream, and yellow hues. The blooms emit a strong, sweet fragrance and repeat rapidly throughout the season, from late spring to late fall.
Big Ben has strong, healthy, disease resistant foliage that’s dark green and glossy. This highly versatile rose can be grown on trellises, poles, arches, and pillars; trained along fences or walls; or allowed to fountain on its own.
