‘Jack Frost’ grows leaves that are perfectly rounded and can easily be seen while facing up and out. The leaves are the perfect background for the brilliantly bright blue flowers that will grow in early spring.
‘Jack Frost’ will grow between 12 and 15 inches tall and approximately 18 inches wide in a garden that is partially shaded. The plant appears plump due to how dense it is. Each plant should be planted between 18 and 24 inches apart in order to give them the space they need. It is a hearty plant that is able to tolerate cold snaps and soil that is poorly fertilized, but it does prefer soil that is acidic.
This plant is a part of the Brunnera family which looks great when planted some of the staples of a shade garden, such as ferns, hostas, hellebores, and pulmonarias. No matter what type of plants you decide to plant in your shade garden, ‘Jack Frost’ will compliment them.
