First introduced in 1932, the Betty Corning Clematis starts its show of rich colors in spring, when its new foliage premiers in bronze tinted hues. Early summer’s blooms are smoky blue violet, bell shaped and bountiful. This very heavy blooming continues through early autumn, filling a sunny garden with color and sweet fragrance three seasons each year.

Betty Corning vines climb to six feet when provided trellises, arbors, pergolas, fences, other shrubs, lampposts or even mailboxes as support. Roots thrive when kept cool under heavy mulch, while its tops grow best in direct sunlight or partial shade. Drought tolerant, tenacious and reliable. Zones 4-9. Pruning Group III.
