Recreate the glorious bloom once preserved only for large Sakura trees with Yuki Cherry Blossom Deutzia. This smaller and easier to maintain plant grows to about one or two feet tall. Yet, springtime welcomes its impressive color show with a cascade of magenta-painted, cream-colored blooms.
Magenta markings blush creamy white blooms to give you a carpet full of cherry blossoms. With just one Deutzia, you can have a container plant, but massing the plants gives a more impressive effect. The dark green foliage sheds and turns into burgundy just in time for fall. Dark leaves become illuminated with bright pink and white, which completely transforms the look of the shrub. Yuki Cherry Blossom Deutzia is unpalatable to deer, which means you can enjoy its fragrance and beauty all season.
Yuki Cherry Blossom Deutzia is easy to maintain all year. Grow in partial shade and full sun if you want the heaviest flowering. It is not necessary to prune, although pruning might help it grow more tidy and dense. Cut down flowering stems once a year; cut back the entire shrub every few years. This encourages bushier growth.
