When you think of ferns you probably imagine a delicately patterned plant with narrow fronds positioned in a triangular shape down the stem. The Brilliance Autumn fern has a similar shape but a surprising array of colors that change as the seasons pass. In the spring, the fronds emerge in a deep auburn hue, then transition into a muted green during the summer. In the fall, the leaves change into a copper color again to match the hues of the season.
Plant the Brilliance Autumn fern by itself in the garden and it will grow to 2 feet in every direction. Immerse it between other leafy plants or have it adorn the corners of your garden.
Once the Brilliance Autumn fern is established, it’s good to go. Just give it lots of love in the first year by watering it well and amending the soil to provide essential nutrients. The impressive perennial grows well in the shade in zones 5 to 8, helping you fill up the areas of your garden that are normally harder to manage.
