Obsession was named Jackson and Perkins’ Rose of the Year in 2015, and for good reason. The vivid red tones and intoxicating fragrance are beyond compare, and the fully double blooms average about 4 inches wide and offer 17 to 25 petals. The dark and glossy foliage also provides a classic contrast with the bright red blooms, creating an intensely romantic display. And the whole plant offers superb garden performance year after year.

Like other floribundas, Obsession excels at setting lots of blooms in a season, holding them in big clusters rather than on single stems. This makes them very showy and also excellent cut-flowers. You can cut a whole bouquet with one snip. Obsession is all the more impressive because of the blooms and their radiant color.

This compact shrub grows just about 3 feet high by 3 feet wide, making it great for creating a low hedge, filling out the front of rose beds, or foundation plantings under windows. Just be sure to plant it somewhere with good drainage and full sunlight. Prune it in early spring to remove dead wood, open up air circulation, and to keep the plant compact enough for its chosen garden spot. Once you realize how easy and rewarding to grow this rose is, you are sure to become obsessed.
