This Rose has a story with a timeline fitting of its astounding beauty. When named at the conclusion of World War II there was no greater moniker than Peace to describe this sensational beauty, widely regarded as the greatest hybrid tea ever developed.
Slipped out of France on the last plane to America before the outbreak of World War II, seeding #3-35-40 received its auspicious name on the day Berlin fell to the Allies. A few months later, on the day Japan formally surrendered, Peace won All-American Rose Selections honors and was presented to members of the fledging United Nations.
No blooms are more beautifully tranquil than the soft yellow flowers edged in pink that have become synonymous with Peace. Deepening in their rich, soothing color, the petals unfold slowly around a high-pointed center into a generous 5- to 6-inch, long-lasting double blooms. Borne on strong, sturdy stems, these flowers bloom lavishly throughout the summer, providing a wealth of the finest cut flowers.
Developed to provide a ball of blooms 3 feet in diameter, the generously branched tree roses, dense with thriving green foliage, offer a formal, yet colorful appearance comfortable in any setting. A striking accent for patios, balconies and decks, Peace has more than double the impact when planted in pairs at an entrance.
Prune to desired shape in spring, removing old canes and dead wood. The 36-inch patio tree roses are budded onto a 36-inch trunk. This will make the overall tree, once leafed out and blooming, taller than 36 inches.
