The pure yellow cousin of Austrian Copper, Persian Yellow, a very old variety foetida rose (1837), grows vigorously and flowers in one heavy flush, late spring to early summer. Borne in clusters, the vibrant dark yellow double blooms have 20 to 25 petals and a strong scent. The bush sets rose hips as a winter feature, a tasty treat for birds, high in vitamin C.
Persian Yellow Shrub Rose is a large, very cold-tolerant variety with a shrubby habit of small, semi-glossy foliage that does not respond well to pruning. Use in mixed beds, hedges, and borders.
Persian Yellow Shrub Rose is a naturally occurring sport of Rosa Foetida.
