This Raspberry Splash Lungwort has an amazing combination that’s hard to fathom for a sage in the shade garden. Remarkable large, white-spotted green leaves that look like they’ve been created by a master artist are joined by marvelous raspberry-pink blooms in mid-summer.
From the opening bloom until fall, Raspberry Splash Lungwort provides giant, bell-shaped flowers hanging in burgeoning clusters. When the blooms eventually give way to cold weather, the magnificent foliage retakes center stage, keeping its lively color and vitality through the fall.
No, there’s no heavy maintenance required to keep Raspberry Splash Lungwort looking great. Just keep the soil moist with access to drainage. This sage usually gets some sun, but it can tolerate full shade. Pests are no problem, either, and it resists slugs and powdery mildew.
Bred from Pulmonaria longifolia ‘Bertram Anderson’ and Pulmonaria ‘Leopard’, Raspberry Splash Lungwort has delighted gardeners since its 2001 introduction. Measuring only 1 foot in height and 1 to 2 feet in width, it provides denser foliage if cut back after blooms pass.
