Salvia ‘Rose Marvel’, a reblooming dwarf variety, is a perennial offering summer to fall interest. The plant reliably blooms and reblooms in vibrant, extra-large, rose-colored blossoms with purple calyces. Borne on sturdy spikes, the flowers attract bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds and make excellent cuts for the vase.
A Salvia nemorosa variety, commonly called woodland sage or salvia, Salvia ‘Rose Marvel’ is a dense, bushy herbaceous plant with an upright, clumping habit of wrinkled, mid-green, aromatic leaves and a moderate growth rate. Shown to best effect when mass planted, its compact form is perfect for patio pots, mixed beds, and the front to middle of a sunny perennial border.
Cold hardy, trouble free, and easy to grow, Salvia ‘Rose Marvel’ prefers full sun and moist, gravelly or sandy, well-drained soil, but tolerates drought and a wide variety of soils, including chalk, clay, and loams with a pH that is acid, alkaline, or neutral. The plant is deer and rabbit resistant. Deadheading spent flowers encourages additional blooms. Cut back plants after flowering has finished.
