Are you growing Kordes roses yet? If not, you should be. This German company breeds roses on their own roots in the cold temperatures of northern Europe, selecting only those that demonstrate superior disease resistance, lush foliage, and heavy budding. We are delighted to be able to offer Soul Sister Sunbelt, one of Kordes’ finest introductions.
Soul Sister Sunbelt is a compact shrub rose, just a bit over 3 feet high and not quite that wide, with masses of fully double, damask scented blooms that arise in flushes from late spring all the way to early fall. The color is what sets these flowers apart: they are a peachy shade of apricot, most unusual and simply lovely.
The blooms reach at least 3 inches across, and have a petal-packed, cupped form. They open from the classic pointed, ovoid buds of hybrid tea fame, but their scent is a rich, old fashioned sweet damask you will love. Great for cutting and they are breathtaking in the garden too.
And the Kordes quality comes through in the leathery olive green foliage, which is lush and healthy throughout the season, even in humid climates. The blooms are followed by plentiful rose hips and the shrub looks great well into fall. Hardy through Zone 5 in the North, Soul Sister Sunbelt offers excellent winter hardiness as well as summer stamina.
Make this floriferous, attractive shrub rose a centerpiece in your landscape. Whether you grow it for cut flowers or garden presence, it is a fine addition to any sunny spot in rich, well-drained soil. Expect several decades of beauty from this exceptional rose.
