The Fairy shrub rose is simply in a class by itself. Tops for vigor, perfect health, hardiness, and super ability to produce graceful clusters of charming pink, 1-inch rosette blossoms (each comprised of about 25 to 30 petals) from early summer until hard frost. The Fairy Shrub Rose has been a feature of fine gardens since 1932, and only becomes more beloved as newer cultivars try to equal its performance.
For many, many months on end, this 2 to 3 foot high and 4 to 5 foot wide shrub churns out long canes nearly overwhelmed by their bounty of bubblegum-pink blooms that offer a slight apple fragrance. A single spray is a bouquet for which you’ll need a rather large vase. Minimal pruning and deadheading can increase flowering. And the disease-resistant, fern-like, glossy dark green foliage stays lovely even when not adorned with blossoms. The Fairy Shrub Rose is ideal in the perennial border, in front of shrubs, erupting into color along the foundation, or the focal point of a patio garden. The Fairy Shrub Rose is an everblooming wonder.
To create a solid hedge of color, we suggest you space plants 3 feet apart in the sunny garden. The Fairy Shrub Rose may begin blooming a week or two later than most roses, but oh, does The Fairy Shrub Rose ever make up for lost time. This rose truly does have a magic all its own.
