Here at Jackson & Perkins, we are dedicated to bringing you exciting new roses every year, and this 2014 introduction is destined to become one of our favorites (and one of yours). Wedding Party is a celebration of time-honored floral beauty, boasting clusters of classically pointed buds that slowly unfurl to reveal 20 perfectly formed petals in delicate shades of lavender pink. The 3-inch blossoms also delight with an unforgettable spicy fragrance, which will be especially appreciated if you snip a few bloom clusters throughout the season to enjoy in vases around your home.
Equally suited to patio containers as well as the garden, this floribunda grows to a very manageable size of 2 feet high and 3 feet wide. Whether it’s planted in sunny beds, borders, or low hedges or displayed in a favorite planter right on your deck, Wedding Party will charm even when out of bloom because its healthy, glossy, dark green foliage is very attractive all on its own.
In a container, Wedding Party will require winter protection. Provide moist, well-drained soil, and choose an area that receives full sun. Give it a good pruning in the spring. We suggest removing any old or dead canes and any that cross each other, and if you’re growing it in warmer climates, you’ll want to trim back the rest of the canes by about one-third. In colder areas, we recommend you cut back a little bit more.
